The Green Hope Men’s Swimming team won the 4A State Championship on Saturday, February 10th. The Falcons won by almost 100 points as they scored a whopping 272 points. Our guys took home a gold medal in the 200 relay (John Healy, Connor Dalbo, Jesse Ssengonzi, and Michael Ivy). There were several other notable performances including John Healy (100 backstroke, 100 butterfly, and 400 free relay), Connor Dalbo (200 IM, 100 breast, and 400 free relay), Michael Ivy (100 freestyle, 200 free relay, and 400 free relay), Ben Prucha (200 free relay), Shaw Satterfield (200 free relay and 200 freestyle),  Mitch Curlee (200 free relay, 50 freestyle, 100 freestyle and 400 free relay),  Walker Creedon (1 meter diving), Jared Carter (500 freestyle), Colin Cotter (200 IM and 100 backstroke), Michael Moore (200 IM and 500 freestyle), Bryce Robinson (1 meter diving), CJ Spence (200 freestyle), Jesse Ssengonzi (100 butterfly), and Jason Zhang (100 breast).I caught up with senior Connor Dalbo who was ecstatic after winning his first state title. “It was amazing to end our undefeated season with State Championship.” When asked what was key to winning the State Championship he said “Our depth definitely helped us. We were happy to have several qualifiers in all events and it was great to see everyone compete at the highest level.”

The girls team respectively finished 7th overall, only four points from fifth, with great performances from Maria Baric (50 freestyle), Lauren Medlin (50 freestyle), and Sophia Ehlin (1 meter diving).

Make sure to congratulate any mens or womens swimmers around the school if you see them! Also a big props to Mr. Regan for winning a State Championship as his first year as coach. Go Green Hope!
