Rain was the big issue on everyone’s mind when Green Hope took on Rolesville on last night in the first round of the North Carolina State playoffs.  Although surprisingly, the game was able to go on and finished in a Green Hope victory with a score of 2-0, before the rain even started. The girls did the little things to shutout the Rams on their own dirt

The game was dominated by Green Hope starting pitcher Katelyn Ellard as she pitched for the complete game shutout, her second of the season too! Ellard K’d up 11 Rolesville batters and came in clutch at the plate to knock in the game winning run in the top of the sixth inning. The Green Hope Ace has been dominant all year and with that win her record moves to 7-3 with a 2.00 ERA. As well as her 82 strikeouts on the season is good for 4th in the conference.

Green Hope was also led at the plate by Junior Jordan Pierce (.302), who went 3-3 with the other RBI in the win as well as Sophomore Ashley Rager (.333), who went 2-3 from the leadoff spot.

The Girls will enjoy the win today, but will refocus for their second round game against the #1 seed in the state tournament, Southern Alamance on Friday, May 12th. Green Hope will look to upset the top seed and keep that state championship dream alive.
