Women’s Basketball Falls Short Against Panther Creek

On Friday night, the Green Hope Women’s basketball team played rival Panther Creek. The quad games were away, and the women’s team fell short with a final score of 51-48. This upset left the Catamounts with another point in the “Fight for 55” battle. This loss removed the Falcons from the tie for first place in the SWAC conference.

The game began with PC gaining a significant lead at 20-9 at the end of the first quarter. By the end of the third quarter, Green Hope had neared PC’s lead with a score of 35-32. The fourth quarter was open for either team to claim the victory, yet the Green Hope women couldn’t pull through.

The team’s top scorer, Kelly Fitzgerald, finished with 16 points, and other leading player, Nia Washington, scored 14 points. The women’s team will be playing their next game February 2nd against Apex High School.
