The men’s varsity basketball team hosts senior night tonight as they take on Apex Friendship.

The Falcons have been defending their home court well lately as they have won two games at home in the past two weeks. The first Falcon victory came over finals break on Friday, January 15th when Green Hope defeated Holly Springs 67-58. After trailing by two points at the end of the first quarter, the Falcons outscored the Golden Hawks 18-12 in the second period to open up a four point lead at intermission.

Green Hope kept the pedal down offensively in the second half, scoring 46 points for an impressive total of 67 for the game, the second highest scoring output of the season for the Falcons. This is the second time this season the Falcons have defeated Holly Springs after besting them 52-51 back in early December.

After that strong offensive performance on the 15th, the Falcons continued to play outstanding basketball six days later when they claimed another conference victory against Fuquay Varina last Thursday. Senior captain Quavis Johnson led the team in scoring with 12 points and fellow backcourt mate junior Will Harkins added 7 as the Falcons edged out a five point victory by a final score of 56-51.

These two conference victories improve the Falcons record to 12-6 on the season and 5-5 in conference play. With the season nearing the end and only six games remaining on the schedule, Green Hope currently sits in fifth in the conference standings.

Similar to when the Falcons squared off with Holly Springs and Fuquay Varina for the second time, Green Hope has already defeated Apex Friendship on the road earlier this season, when they dominated them by a score of 61-18 on December 4th. Led by a starting group of seniors the Falcons will look to repeat that outcome and notch their third straight conference victory at home tonight on senior night.
