January 4, 2016

Both the boys and girls indoor track teams competed in the Holiday Invite meet on Saturday, December 19th. This meet took place at the JDL Fast Track in Winston Salem. Both girls and boys individuals took home many new records for their season.

In boys field, Will Hoffman, Henry Pehr, Blake Watson and Jayquan Williams set a new school record in the 4×400 relay, also running the US #1 time, 3.26.37 and along the way, qualifying for the state championship meet.

Jayquan Williams and Henry Pehr ran the US #2 and #3 times in the 1000 meter race. Jayquan achieved the NC #1 time and both boys broke the school record. Henry and Jayquan are currently 13th and 14th all-time in NC.

In girls field, Lindsay Eastwood, Allison Williams, Natalie Richards and Kayla Foy qualified for the state championship meet in the 4×200 relay. Morgan Adams also qualified in the 1600m with a new indoor personal best.

Senior Jayquan Williams says, “I feel like we did well as a unit. We took home a few NC #1s and we performed as expected. We did practice over break. We put in a lot of miles over the break and we just got into race mode mentally and physically.”
