The Green Hope women’s golf team enters a rebuilding year after winning the state championship for the first time in school history. It is a brand new looking team this season after losing two impact seniors in Amanda Yannoni, and  Meghan Symonds. Symonds now plays on the golf team at Sewanee. They have also lost last year’s coach, Mike Robinson, who has moved back to coaching women’s basketball.

Despite losing those integral team members, this year’s team still has plenty of young talent, and is poised to make another run at the SWAC conference title. The team is led by new head coach Rob Schoonover who was formerly the head coach of Cary High’s women’s golf team. The Falcons are returning key contributors from last season in senior Mirren Hill and sophomore Lauren Nee. Now five matches into the nine-match conference season, the lady falcons have placed third three times, fourth once, and the last match at home they finished in sixth place.  At roughly the halfway point of the conference season, the team stands in fourth place in the season-long chase for the SWAC regular season title. The Falcons are now entering a break in the schedule, they will not play in competition again till September 22nd when they travel to Bentwinds GC.
