Fall season is a huge time for Apple, with their annual conference and releasing of a handful of new, upgraded products. Gadgets and devices this year include Apples iPhone XR, XS, and XS Max. On top of these, Apple is releasing a brand new Apple Watch as well as the long anticipated Macbook Air. With the new laptop, Apple was able to please the population of eco friendly people around the globe with a new design.

During early November, Apple released a trailer teasing its new ultra-thin Macbook Air. This trailer showed the mechanics behind the device, emphasizing its complexity and functionality. A key component that was emphasized during this trailer was the eco-friendly approach that Apple used during its design. Apple claims to have made an “ultra efficient” design, using shards of aluminum to build the frame of the laptop. Apple also reduced the amount of toxins such as mercury and brominated flame retardants from the circuit boards of the MacBook Air.

This approach could mean many things for Apple, but most importantly it signifies Apple’s new focus on making products which reduce environmental damage. Many consumers will appreciate Apple’s efforts to sustaining the environment, making it more popular in sales. The eco friendly design does not compromise any other components of the MacBook. On top of the cleaner and more efficient design, the MacBook runs smoother and is more portable than older designs.

Overall, Apple’s environmentally sustainable approach to the production of new gadgets has been positively received. On the marketing side, this strategy was smart because it made it harder for Apple opposers to disagree with the 2018 MacBook Air. Hopefully, Apple will stick to this new strategy when making the next iPhone, Apple Watch, and other products.
