Today, schools all over the nation are participating in a walk-out protesting gun violence in schools. The walk-out comes one month after the shooting at Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida. Students are walking out at 10 am and staying out for 17 minutes, one minute dedicated per victim of the shooting.

Many schools in Wake County are also participating in the walk-out. Apex Friendship, Panther Creek, and several other WCPSS high schools are planning events surrounding the walk-out.

On February 28th, Green Hope High School held a massive walk-out over 2,100 attendees. The message from Green Hope’s walk-out is similar to those in other schools: gun violence in schools must stop.

Local media sources such as WRAL, WNCN, The News and Observer will be covering these walk-outs with live streams and helicopter overhead footage will be broadcast on the sources’ respective websites.
