In the Trump Administration’s first State of the Union address, President Donald Trump announced a massive plan to fix infrastructure in the United States; it is expected to cost about $1.5 trillion. $200 billion of that will come from the federal government. Most of the infrastructure in the plan are related to transportation (i.e.: roads). Another major part of the plan is educating the current and future workforce and shortening the length of time for approval of building projects to two years or less. State and local governments will receive grants and are expected to contribute some funds towards the infrastructure in their respective areas.

Some Democrats say that this plan is a “scam,” and that the Trump Administration will not go through with it, while many other people fully support the plan and believe that it will improve the efficiency of businesses and will grow industries throughout the country. The plan states that the country “is in an unacceptable state of disrepair, which damages our country’s competitiveness and our citizens’ quality of life.” The plan also states that it will address infrastructure needs of United States Territories if needed.

The Trump Administration plans to help rural areas by increasing economic growth by providing new and/or improved infrastructure in more rural places. Additional attention will be given to the nation’s railroads, waterways, highways, and bridges. If the President’s plan is successful, citizens can expect much-improved infrastructure and a more educated workforce within the next decade.
