Finn McBride is a senior runner for Green Hope High School, competing in all twelve seasons of Cross Country and both Indoor and Outdoor Track.  Finn has been a standout runner since his freshman year, holding school records in the Outdoor Full Mile, the Freshman 1600m, Track 5000m, and has been a part of two All-American 4x1600m relays both at New Balance Indoor and Outdoor Nationals.  McBride is very fond of his recently purchased Camaro, which can be seen in the parking lot, breaking every speed limit rule that is present.  Finn has been a driven student in the classroom taking a variety of AP Classes, but he claims that his favorite class in high school has been Pre-Calculus with Mrs. Kovalaske.  McBride has decided to serve his country after high school, and will be taking his academic and athletic talents to the United States Naval Academy in Annapolis, Maryland.  The process to gain admittance to the Academy was a long journey, but McBride is excited for what is to come.

  • When did you begin playing the sport that you committed to?

  • What inspired you or pushed you to pursue a sport at the collegiate level?
“It’s the first thing that I did that I found success with and enjoyment at the same time, and I believe if I continue to enjoy it as I do now, the success will come along with it.”
  • What schools were you considering before your commitment?
“None other than the Academy”
  • What separated the United States Naval Academy from the others?
“The ability to run at a Division I level, get a world class education, and the ability to serve my country in an honorable way.”
  • Who is the most impactful person you have ever had in your sports life?
“My coach Jason Bochert, who has really helped me see the true potential that I have and inspired me to be great not just in practice and workouts, but has instilled in me a mindset that drives me to be great every day.”
  • Do you know what you want to major in?
“Unsure currently, but some form of Engineering more likely than not, such as Nuclear Engineering or Weapon Mechanics Engineering.”

  • What are your plans/goals after college?
“I want to become a Naval pilot and break the sound barrier and to “fight bad guys” while serving our country”
