Black Falcons: Black Falcons “Pick of the Patch”

Vote for which teacher you want to see wear a pumpkin costume all day Friday, October 27th. Look for us in the cafeteria and make a money donation into the jar with the teacher’s name you want to be the “Pick of the Patch”. With each donations, you will receive a piece of candy. An announcement of the “Winning” teacher will be the end of the day on October 26th. And look for the teacher happily wearing the costume around the school. So bring in your change and pick your choice of who is going to wear the PUMPKIN costume in 2017.

Lunch with a stranger: Please come join us to meet new people in room 3306. You will be pared 2 people at a time and will have a series of questions to ask each other and then rotate throughout the lunch period. You can come and go as you please.

Gymnastics Team: There is an interest meeting 1st half of lunch in the front office for Gymnastics team.

Chorus Department: Congratulations to five Green Hope Chorus students who have been selected to participate in the NC High School Honors Chorus! These students will participate in the NC Honors Chorus Clinic in Winston-Salem Nov. 11-12 and will perform for the NC Music Educator’s Conference. Congratulations to: Michael Dismuke, Rae Fredette, Luna Hou, Cathy Kramer, and Alex Payton!

Here comes the bus: WCPSS Transportation has recently launched a new initiative in which bus rider families will now able to use a free bus tracking system called Here Comes the Bus that allows students and parents to see where their assigned bus is and how close it is to their assigned stop. Traditional calendar students in high school will gain access to this app beginning on Monday, October 2.

Career Conversations: Thursday 10/26: Architect – Auditorium – A lunch All students are invited to attend a lunchtime Career Conversation with Architect, Will Stewart of Little Diversified Architectural Consulting to learn more about a career as an architect. BTW – Will Stewart is Ms. Barone’s son, so she would love to see a big turn out!

 UNC Eshelman LEAD Pharmacy Program On Friday, 10/27 during lunch A, in room 200 students are invited to meet with Asst. Dean, Carla White, of the UNC Eshelman School of Pharmacy, who will speak about the LEAD Pharmacy program for high school students. Questions should be directed to Ms. Barone in room 2203. The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society: Do you want to make a significant impact in the blood cancer world? Do you want to gain an inspiring experience that you would remember for the rest of your life? Do you want to be recognized as a leader and a hero in your community? You can have the opportunity to experience and participate in such a program like I have. All Clubs: The list of existing clubs and advisors here at GHHS is up and active.

History and Geography Club: HISTORY AND GEOGRAPHY CLUB INTEREST MEETING Do you have an interest in History and/or Geography? Would you like to quiz and compete with others, individually or on teams, casually or competitively? Then the History and Geography Club is the club for you. We will be participating in the History Bowl and other associated competitions that involve History and Geography. Come to our interest meeting on Friday 10/27 to find out more. Spanish Club: Spanish club will hold its next meeting on Tuesday, Nov. 7, 2017 from 10:30-11:00 am in Mod 1-Room 4. The club will be decorating sugar skulls, voting on a club t-shirt and discussing Dia de los Muertos. If attending, please feel free to bring some decorating icing for the sugar skulls and/or a t-shirt design to share. ¡Nos vemos!

Microsoft Office Specialist Club: The Microsoft Office Specialist club is having an interest meeting this Wednesday in room 2322 during the 2nd half of lunch. The club is about certifying, preparing for a well-known competition, and learning more about the features of Microsoft applications. Book Publishing Club: The Book Publishing Club will be having its interest meeting this Wednesday in room 3314, both halves of lunch! Bring a friend!

Badminton Club: Badminton Club will have an interest meeting on Monday, October 23 during lunch (1st half) in room 3218, Ms. Diorio’s classroom. All those interested (any grade level) are welcome to attend, as well as any skill level (novice to expert). See you then!

GH DREAM: The GH DREAM club seeks to help refugees who come to our community by gathering donations and raising awareness about their issues. Join us on Tuesdays during the first half of lunch in Mrs. Yamauchi’s classroom–Mod 4, Rm 6.

Green Hope Girls Ultimate Frisbee: Interested in learning or playing the sport of Ultimate? The Green Hope Girls’ team, sanctioned by Triangle/USA Ultimate, meets 3x a week, with fall/spring tournaments and a spring league as well. All (including beginners) are welcome! Student Services – College Visits: NC State University has rescheduled their visit from 9/22 to 11/1.

Student Services: A Recruitment Officer from Wake Technical Community College will be here in the Media Center on Monday, October 23rd from 7:30 – 10:30 to meet with students and help them apply for Wake Tech. Please sign up in Student Services by Friday, October 20th.
