Record Breaking Homecoming
Last Friday, Green Hope gave Athens the beating of the year, pounding them 43-6. The Falcons witnessed one of the best performances ever seen by a Green Hope running back. The senior, Jaquel Watkins put up an incredible stat line. 16 carries, 268 yards, and hit pay dirt not once, not twice, but 5 times. The 5 touchdowns scored was enough to break the record and etch his name into the record books.

Jaquel said that this was by far his best performance, “I’ve never really scored a lot, but Friday I was following my blocks and hitting the holes like Coach told me, and the success came from there.” Jaquel gave huge props to the offensive line for his success on the ground. With a performance like that, the hype never got to Jaquel, he wasn’t record chasing, he was just playing his game. “I didn’t even know I had the record, but after the 4th touchdown, a couple teammates let me know that I either broke or tied the record.”
Jaquel is looking to have another huge game this Friday, and show out for senior night against Riverside. When asked about goals for the rest of the season, he only had one thing to say. “State championship.”
