The Green Hope women’s tennis team defeated Panther Creek last night to cap off their undefeated regular season.  The win picked up another Fight for 55 point for the Falcons, extending their lead to 4-0.  Green Hope was dominant in their victory, winning 8-1, as Panther Creek was no match for the girls.  Two of the three losses Panther Creek has suffered this year came at the hands of the Falcons.  The girls will head into the Tri-6 Conference Tournament sitting at 12-0 overall and 11-0 in conference play, making them the regular season conference champions.  Green Hope won the Tri-6 by three games, compared to the two game lead that they won the SWAC by last year.  In the 108 matches that Green Hope players have played this year, they have won 105 of them, setting them up for a potential long run in the state playoffs.  Here is a run-down of each girls’ individual results from the match last night:

Singles:

Katie Andreini lost 4-6, 6-4, (0-1)

Anna Rico won 7-6, 6-7, (1-0)

Sophia Gray won 6-4, 6-2

Cynthia Xiao won 6-1, 6-0

Rhindha Sudhini won 6-2, 6-1

Reilly Major won 6-0, 6-2

Doubles:

Anna Rico & Katie Andreini won 8-6

Rhindha Sudhini & Sophia Gray won 9-8, (7-4)

Reilly Major & Cynthia Xiao won 8-2

Green Hope’s final matches, before the state playoffs, will be in the Tri-6 Conference Tournament next Tuesday at the Cary Tennis Park.  Looking ahead, the Falcons are one of only two undefeated teams remaining in 4A women’s tennis.  The other team is Myers Park, who defeated Green Hope in the 4A State Championship match last year.  The two teams seem to be on a collision course for a championship rematch, but they will have to essentially win out to get there.  That feat is do-able, but the key will be to not look ahead.
